If you are a beginner when it comes to a nudist lifestyle, you might connect it to a sexual level, more than you should. A nude environment doesn’t have many things in common with a sexual environment, or a least it’s not meant to. But there is a complex discussion that can be developed based on this analogy.
We were educated to associate nudism with two major aspects of our life: bathing ourselves and being intimate with our partners. Everything outside these activities doesn’t seem to justify being nude, at least not at a social level. However, nudism can bring us a lot more benefits as we practice it. Nudism by itself, doesn’t imply a sexual aspect and it is not meant to lead to one either. People enjoy spending time nude alone or while they are part of a group that embraces the same concept as a temporary or even permanent lifestyle. This increases their level of freedom at a physical and emotional level.
Being nude also has the benefit to relax an individual who can fully accept their nakedness and be comfortable with their body. Sexual aspects are not a goal or a reason for nudism, in such terms. However, some sexual reactions can easily appear, especially if a nudist is a beginner in the matter. These are biological consequences and nothing more as they are not incorporated in the nudist lifestyle or concept.
Men seem to struggle more when it comes to sexual effects of nudism and that also happens because their potential sexual arousal is more noticeable. For such situation, the nudist etiquette has a set of rules that are meant to reduce the discomfort within the group and re-establish balance. Because these sexual effects, a nude environment is commonly mistaken for a sexual environment. But to avoid such moments, it is better to understand the terms and properly define them before entering a nudist lifestyle or having such an experience.
Why Nudism Not a Sexual Activity
Nudism is a form of non-sexual nudity relaxation in a social environment. You will see that all nudists state that very loud and clear and they do so because many amateurs in the matter mistake nudism with a sexual environment. “Nudism is not sexual” is the mantra that you will most likely hear first when you want to join a nudist club or group. However, this is more related to the reasons that some people might have for joining a nudist lifestyle, which could be the main root of all confusions between a nude environment and a sexual environment. It is very important for everyone wanting to try out nudism, to do that for the right reasons and not to satisfy their sexual instincts.
Nudism is for people who want to enjoy their nakedness, more than they enjoy seeing other people naked. Generally, nudists love activities such a sunbathing, swimming and exercising or eating without wearing any clothes. They do everything other people do, only that they skip wearing outfits as they perform these common actions. This is a matter of personal comfort and it has nothing to do with a sexual pleasure. You will see nudists of all ages, doing all kinds of activities without wearing any clothes and they do so because their bodies experience sensations that wouldn’t be experienced otherwise. They enjoy feeling the breeze directly on their skin, all over their bodies and they enjoy feeling confident to express themselves just they way nature made them, without hiding behind clothes. This is why a nudist is also called a naturist, because it is more about being natural than being sexual. Nudism is indeed, a language by itself and people who join this lifestyle appreciate the fact that their bodies can have a way to express itself without restrictions imposed by a society that equals lack of clothes with a sexual interest or purpose.
However, there are situations in which our bodies react in less than desired ways and can express certain sexual clues. These are natural as well and they should be kept under control and taken for what they are: a natural response to an environmental stimulant.
Because the general public understands nudism to be justified only in relation to personal hygiene or sexual activities, they tend to lack understanding when it comes to being nude without having any interest in being sexually involved with someone. For people who never experienced nudism, it might be challenging or even impossible to relate to the pleasure that jogging for instance brings, when it is performed without any clothing. And this example could be given regarding many other activities that nudists enjoy.
Joining a nudist group to explore your body’s nature more and reach a level of freedom that you can’t reach otherwise, without being judged, is the right reason to get into such an adventure. At the same time, joining a nudist cruise or any other nude activity just because you want to explore your sexuality and see other nudists, has nothing to do with the fundamental concept of nudism. Reasoning does half of the job when it comes to seeing the difference between a nude environment and a sexual environment. And usually, this difference becomes apparent quite fast after just one nudist experience as it is not such a complex judgment that needs to be made in order to understand the limits between the two.
Therefore, if you are attracted to a nudist lifestyle, try to analyze your reasons and expectations before diving into it. Accidents will happen and sexual arousals are seen as accidents among nudists. But they tend to disappear fast once the rules are understood and applied. Once you are able to enjoy nudism by separating it completely from a sexual perspective, you will discover new ways to enjoy yourself and relax your body and mind at the same time!
